AgriStock
Long read
This is the company argument in full. It is not a substitute for a lot specification, a warehouse visit, or the risk page in the app. It is the missing middle between a slogan and a button.
Capital in Lagos often learns agriculture from two broken teachers. The first is development language: empowerment, inclusion, youth in agribusiness as a poster. The second is imported brokerage language: candlesticks, “the market”, a search box that implies every ticker on earth is a product you can actually clear.
Neither teacher will tell you what a household already knows. Rice is a monthly referendum. Maize is a conversation between plates and poultry. Palm oil is both a plantation story and a jerrycan story. Cocoa is an origin story that usually ends in someone else’s factory. Cassava is industrial even when the internet still calls it local. Livestock is mortality and feed, not a protein meme.
AgriStock starts there. The company is not trying to make Nigeria look like a US brokerage with a green theme. It is trying to make a Naira desk that can hold inventory language without being ashamed of it, and company language without pretending the company is a bag.
If that sounds slower than a token launch, it is. Food does not mint. Stores rot. Trucks need diesel. That is not a vibe. That is the asset class.
A warehouse lot is units of a specified product in a specified store. Price is per bag, tonne, or bird. Remaining quantity is an operations number. Location is a map pin plus a human who should still pick up. When you allocate, you should be able to say the sentence: I hold this many units of this lot.
A listed agri name is a company. Presco is not a drum of oil in your kitchen. Okomu is not a receipt for kernels. A cocoa processor is not a warehouse of beans unless the listing says so — and even then the equity and the beans are different claims. Livestock feeds is not a flock. The public market already talks in these names. We put them on a second desk so they do not contaminate the first.
Investors who only wanted plantation upside never needed lots. Investors who only wanted a bag never needed a ticker. Nigeria has both kinds of people, often in the same family. Software that forces them into one metaphor will lie to one of them.
The gold analogy is allowed if you keep it tight. Bullion in a vault is not a mining share. Lots are closer to bullion. Listed agri is closer to the miner. AgriStock will repeat that until it is boring. Boring is a fiduciary aesthetic.
Import-linked rice does not care about your patriotism. It cares about the dollar, the border, and the mill. Maize moving from a producing state to a feed mill cares about diesel and whether the road is a rumour that week. Processing cares about power. Warehouses care about roofs and pests. None of that shows up in a generic “agri is the future of Africa” paragraph.
A Naira wallet does not remove FX risk from an import-linked lot. It just means you fund in the currency you actually have. Honesty is: this desk settles in Naira, and the crop still lives in a world priced by many things you do not control.
AgriStock will not publish a fake macro dashboard and call it alpha. We will show you the lot, the tape we actually have, and the statement. Macro is your job, or your analyst’s. Our job is not to hide the unit.
Planting is not a candlestick. Green maize is not dry grain. Cocoa has a main crop and a light crop in the minds of people who actually buy beans. Poultry cycles do not respect your notification settings. A lot that cannot say what form the product is in is not “early”. It is unfinished.
Storage is a technology. Aeration, stacking, bag quality, moisture meters — these are more important than a hero video of a drone over a field. We use the video because people need to feel the country. We use the lot page because people need to not go broke on a feeling.
If you cannot wait through a season, do not size like a patient allocator. Soft launch especially: the software is new, the partners are being verified, the catalogue is allowed to be small.
Northern grains, middle-belt production, southern cocoa and palm, peri-urban poultry — these are different operational theatres. A map pin is the beginning of that admission. A single “Nigeria agri” ETF-style story is how you flatten people who do not flatten in real life.
AgriStock is national in ambition and local in listing. A lot in one state is not a claim on another. Listed companies may operate across states; that is their annual report, not our lot table.
When the map in the app is empty in a region, that is data. It is not a reason to invent listings so the heatmap looks like a pitch.
The serious version of this product has always been a receipt: this many bags, this grade, this store, this issuer. Paper receipts were forged. Digital receipts are forged faster if listing is permissionless and admin is asleep.
That is why farmer listings pend. That is why admin exists. That is why we would rather have twelve lots than a scraped encyclopedia of crops. A wiki is not custody.
AgriStock is the software layer, not a magical vault in the cloud. If a partner fails, the ledger will not un-fail the roof. Read Trust. Visit if you are sizing like an institution. Soft-launch users should size like people using new rails.
Read the crop. Read the unit. Read remaining quantity. Open the warehouse. See if the manager is a name or a decoration. Compare the lot to any listed name you were about to average into the same thought. Read risk in the app. Print a statement after you transact so you are not reconstructing history from screenshots.
If you are a warehouse, diligence runs the other way: can you actually count, can you keep dry, can you take a phone call, can you live with pending status while we verify.
If you are press, diligence is: do not write that AgriStock is NGX. Do not write that we hold all the grain in Nigeria. Do not write that listed quotes are institutional if the product says catalogue. Accuracy is the brand.
Statements, wallets, OTP, maps, pending listings, admin, a live tape that does not pretend to be more than it is — these are product problems. Spreadsheets in a cooperative office do not survive a second city. A static brochure does not let you take units.
So the company split the surfaces on purpose. agristock.org can speak in long sentences. app.agristock.org can take Naira. The API can serve a Flutter client later without inventing a second company. Hostinger, Vercel, Render — unromantic and correct.
Paystack is the payment rail because we are not a card network. Email OTP is the first identity rail because it is the one we can verify on a domain. WhatsApp and Telegram are planned channels, not footer fiction. KYC vendors are cheques, not CSS.
The first thin company page was a sketch. This site is the argument. The desk is still where you should go if you are done reading.
